Maoist guerrillas blew up a bridge in Jharkhand's Giridih district Wednesday, a day ahead of the polling for six Lok Sabha seats from the state, police said.
Guerrillas blew up the bridge near Padnatand village, around 190 km from Ranchi.
Giridih will go to the polls Thursday. Police said the bridge was blown up to disrupt the movement of security forces during the polling.
Police Wednesday also found five landmines from Ambatar village in Hazaribagh district, around 140 km from Ranchi. Polling will also take place Thursday for the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat.
Maoists have asked people to boycott the polls.
