Maoist guerrillas on Wednesday damaged a mobile tower and set it on fire in Jharkhand's Giridih district even as security forces seized five IEDs in West Singhbhum district, police said.
Maoists -- who have called a 24-hour shutdown in Jharkhand and Bihar -- blasted the mobile tower of a private company at Mirzadih village and set it on fire.
The five improvised explosive devices -- each weighing 10 kg -- were seized from a jungle in West Singhbhum.
Meanwhile, peopled faced inconvenience on Wednesday as buses did not ply from the state capital Ranchi to various places in Jharkhand districts. Shops were closed in Khuti, Latehar, Simdega and other districts. Coal transportation was also hit.
Security forces have launched an operation against Maoists at Budha Pahad in Latehar district.
The rebels attacked the Masudan railway station on the Jamalpur-Kieul section in Bihar on Tuesday night, killing one person and abducting two officials, police said on Wednesday.
