Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic has signed with Spanish league champions Atletico Madrid, the club officially reported.
Mandzukic signed a four-year deal with the Spanish football team and the sports director Jose Luis Perez Caminero said Thursday that "he is a winner, a player used to winning titles. He will contribute very much", reports Xinhua.
"The incorporation of Mario Mandzukic is great news because he has the features we were looking for," he added.
Mandzukic arrived in Madrid Thursday to pass an initial medical ahead of signing his contract. He will cost around 22 million euros ($29 million).
The 28-year-old striker said that he was very happy to be in Spain.
"I know Atleti well and I know they have great players and a great coach," he pointed out.
Mandzukic played two years with Bayern Munich and he scored 33 goals in 54 Bundesliga appearances. He has scored 15 goals in 52 appearances for Croatia.
