Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Thursday tried to cajole party workers into not losing hope in the wake of desertions by senior party leaders and exhorted them to "complete the unfinished task of Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar".
Addressing party cadres and office-bearers to review the situation in the party after some senior leaders left the party, Mayawati reminded the workers of the hard times they had faced in the formative years of the BSP.
Two senior leaders -- Indrajeet Saroj and Thakur Jaiveer Singh -- quit the party accusing the Dalit leader of extorting money from them. Singh has since joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
She also asked them to get ready for the success of the zonal meetings she proposes to start from September 18 from Meerut.
She has announced rallies against the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state every month at different places.
The four-time Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also castigated the Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological mentor of the BJP.
