Protesting municipal workers in the national capital on Sunday ended their three-day-old strike after being assured of timely payment of salaries and arrears, the Delhi government announced.

"Municipal Corporation of Delhi workers' strike is over. Various workers' unions agreed that the government had paid the fixed amount on time and more than the previous year," Delhi government spokesperson -- and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader -- Dilip Pandey said.

"The authorities have agreed on releasing the remaining funds for the (current) financial year 2016 before December," Pandey said in a series of tweets.

Municipal workers of the East Delhi civic body launched an indefinite strike on Friday demanding, among others, timely payment of salaries and regularisation of daily-wagers who had been working for over a decade.
