The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed concern over the increasing incidents of sexual assault on women across India.
The IMA said the recent kidnap and rape of a medical student June 20 in Karnataka's Udupi town has brought back memories of the Dec 16, 2102, brutal assault and gang-rape of a young woman in Delhi, who later died.
"Medical and paramedical personnel and students have to attend to patients even at odd hours. If such instances continue to happen, it will act as a deterrent for females in this profession to work at night," the IMA said in a statement.
A 22-year-old medical student was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by three people, including an auto driver, in Manipal near Udupi.
