Delhi-based artist-photographer Amita Prithviwasis abstract paintings and vivid colours are a visual depiction of what she feels when she meditates. Taking viewers through her soulful journey into herself, her paintings opened for display here on Friday.

Her first solo show "Anterman", inaugurated by National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) Director General Adwaita Gadanayak, is viewable at the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) here till March 7. It showcases paintings that use bright and earthen-shaded acrylic colours.

The artist, who has also worked with digital art for many years, is exhibiting her 'manual' paintings in this show. "They are not very different as both of them are based upon the several 'elements' and 'principles' of art," she told IANS.

Her works, based on balance, harmony and movement of her elements, are a pleasant sight to the eyes.

"I find art to be a meditative process that soothes me. I believe, what I feel during the meditation process, the rest of the world should see, and thus I give it a visual appearance," she added.

Art is also deeply emotive for her, and a means to let the emotions, whether depressing or joyous, out.
