Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil will be out of action for 10 to 12 weeks due to a knee injury, the German Football Association (DFB) confirmed in a statement.
The Arsenal midfielder joined the German team in Frankfurt for the upcoming two Euro qualifiers against Poland and Ireland, but a problem in his left knee forced him to take an MRI scan with Germany's team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt in Munich Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
The MRI scan revealed that Ozil suffered a partial lateral collateral ligament tear in his left knee.
The midfielder is expected to return in 10 to 12 weeks and will thus be unable to help the national team for the rest of 2014.
