A New Zealand citizen, who died in the crash of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in Ukraine in July this year, was conferred with his degree in engineering by Massey University Friday, media reported.
Rob Ayley, 29, of Otaki, was flying home on flight MH17 when the plane crashed in eastern Ukraine July 17, killing all 298 people on board.
He was 18 months into a degree in engineering at Massey's Palmerston North campus through distance learning, Stuff.co.nz reported.
The university awarded Ayley with a diploma in science and technology in engineering studies at the graduation ceremony Friday.
His parents Wendie and Jonn Ayley accepted the diploma on his behalf.
