Militants on Wednesday attacked a police picket in a village in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, but fled after the deployed police personnel retaliated, police said.
Militants fired at a "minority picket" (set up to guard families of minority community still continuing to live in the Kashmir Valley even after outbreak of separatist violence) in Panzer village of Shopian, but were forced to run away after prompt retaliation by the alert police guards, a police officer said.
"One head constable sustained minor injury after he hit a concertina wire," police said.
Sources said members of minority Sikh community continue to live in Panzer village.
