Minimum temperature improves in J&K after light snowfall in higher reaches

Minimum temperatures throughout Jammu and Kashmir improved further on Thursday as higher reaches received light snowfall.

There has been light snowfall in higher reaches of the Valley and the Trikuta Hills in Jammu region during the night.

Nightlong cloud cover improved minimum temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday as the weather office forecast light rain or snow at isolated places during the next 24 hours in the state.

"Minimum temperatures have improved further due to cloud cover in the Valley, Ladakh and Jammu regions today. Srinagar recorded minus 2, Pahalgam minus 1.5 and Gulmarg minus 1.3 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperatures on Thursday," an official of MET department said.

 

"At minus 19.3, Kargil town recorded the lowest minimum in the state today followed by Leh at minus 8 degrees Celsius.

"Temperatures in Jammu region improved further as the minimum temperature recorded in Jammu city was 8 degrees Celsius, in Katra it was 8.8, in Batote 3.9, Bannihal and Bhaderwah both recorded 1.4 and Udhampur settled at 3.6 degrees Celsius as the night's lowest," the official said.
