The minister, who travelled in bus in the backdrop of a 23-year-old woman's gang-rape in a moving bus Dec 16, found no security on road and felt that women were not safe in and outside buses during night, sources said Saturday.
He felt that a lot more needed to be done to upgrade safety of citizens of Delhi, they said.
Singh, who is in-charge of internal security, undertook the journey on a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus plying on route number 604 from Moti Bagh to Chhatarpur Metro Station, passing through R.K. Puram, Vasant Vihar, Munirka, Vasant Kunj and Chhatarpur.
Additional Commissioner of Police Ajay Chaudhary had Wednesday travelled in DTC buses to check the security for women in public transport.
