A 13-year-old died while another minor sustained critical injuries after a heavy iron gate fell on them while they were swinging on it in south Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
Police said the incident took place around 2 p.m. when the deceased, identified as Ajay, and his nine-year-old neighbour Vivek were swinging on the iron gate installed by the Residents Welfare Association of Krishna Park Colony in Khanpur area.
"After receiving information about the incident at Neb Sarai Police Station, we saw the blood-stained iron gate allegedly installed by the RWA, fallen on the ground," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal said.
Both the boys were taken to nearby Batra Hospital, where Ajay was declared brought dead while Vivek's condition is still critical, Biswal added.
Police said that Ajay was a resident of JJ Camp in Tigri and studied in Class 7 at a government school. His father Raju works as a cobbler in the area.
