The naked body of an eight-year-old girl was found here, police said on Tuesday.
A telephone call about the body in Rangpur Pahari forest of Vasant Kunj area was received around 7.10 a.m., a senior police officer told IANS.
Joint Commissioner of police (south) R.P. Upadhaya said: "We recovered the body around 8 a.m. It appears that there was an attempt to bury her."
"An axe, a bag with few pair of clothes and a doctor's prescription was found near the body," Upadhyay said.
The officer said that the doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) found no external injury marks on the body.

"The body has been preserved for post-mortem which will be done once it is identified," the officer said.
