Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a visit to the US, spoke to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday and assured "all possible support" in the wake of a flyover collapse that has led to at least 21 deaths.
The Prime Minister's Office tweeted: "PM spoke to WB CM @MamataOfficial on the situation arising due to the collapse of an under construction flyover in Kolkata.
"PM expressed grief on the mishap in Kolkata & assured all possible support from the Centre," the tweet said.
Twenty-one people were killed when a flyover under construction crashed in a crowded market in Kolkata on Thursday, crushing scores of unsuspecting people and some vehicles. Around 100 people are also injured in the accident.
