Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said Saturday that the elevation of Narendra Modi as the election campaign chief of the BJP did not concern him.

Describing it was an internal matter of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Gandhi told the media here: "It is really not my concern. My concern is how the Congress is doing and how we are doing in different states. What are the different types of action we are taking to benefit the people."

He said it was for the Congress leadership to decide who will be the party's prime ministerial candidate in the next Lok Sabha election, and if those unhappy in the NDA should be invited to join the UPA.

"That you have to ask the Congress party. I have my job cut out for me," he said, when asked if the Congress would name him the prime ministerial nominee.

About disgruntled NDA allies, he said: "These are internal matters of the Congress. Frankly, these decisions are not made by me. These decisions are made by senior leaders of the Congress."
