Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted the nation on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, which marks the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

"(In) a few days from now, the pious occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi will be observed. Paigambar Hazrat Muhammad Sahab was born on this day. I extend best wishes to all countrymen," he said in his monthly radio programme "Mann Ki Baat".

Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated on December 2.

"I hope that this holy occasion of Eid gives us new inspiration, fresh energy and the strength to resolve anew, to foster peace and communal amity," Modi said.
