The Narendra Modi government has failed to deliver during its nearly one-year rule, and it has only gone ahead with its Hindutva agenda and spread communal hatred, Kerala's ruling Congress-led UDF alliance said on Thursday.
"They have achieved nothing... all what they could do was to go ahead with their Hindutva agenda, which was used to spread communal hatred. The minority communities are unhappy with this," United Democratic Front convenor P.P. Thankachen told reporters after the conclusion of the alliance's day-long meeting to discuss many state and national issues.
"It was a period of just only talking and no results were achieved. They said prices will drop, but what happened was their (BJP) stock came down. On important holidays like Christmas, Easter and Muharam, the Modi government organised national meetings and the most revered and respected Mother Teresa was also belittled," Thankachen said.
He said the meeting discussed a plan to reach out to the masses by organising home visits to explain the achievements of the Oommen Chandy government, and also to explain what the Left opposition in the state and at the Centre have been doing.
"Contrary to media reports, there is no difference of opinion in the UDF," he said.
He said Thomas Unniyadan will be appointed the new government chief whip, replacing P.C. George.
