The Congress on Sunday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what it said was his "silence" on every important issue and said his government's performance in the last two years has been "disastrous".

"Do saal, bura haal, PM Modi silent on every issue," the party's official handle INC India said in a tweet.

The tweet also had a short audio-visual clipping referring to incidents like the Dadri killing over beef controversy, suicide by Rohith Vemula in the University of Hyderabad and manhandling of journalists at the Patiala House courts complex in New Delhi.

A caption in the video says: "All this happened under his (prime minister's) nose, but he remained silent."

Meanwhile, in another tweet, senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel strongly countered the contention that the opposition party had suffered major reverses in the just concluded assembly elections in four states.

Patel said while the Congress contested 363 seats, it won 115. The BJP could win only 64 of the 696 seats it contested, he added.

Similarly, he said, the Left parties contested 452 seats but won only 124.

The Congress says its success rate in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and union territory of Puducherry is much better at 31.6 percent, followed by the Left's 27.4 percent and the BJP's only 9.1 percent.
