The Congress on Wednesday continued to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi over spike in turnover of a company owned by Jay Shah, son of BJP chief Amit Shah, saying he had come up with "Beta Bachao" scheme but doesn't want it publicised.
Congress spokesperson R.P.N. Singh said Modi has not spoken a word after reports surfaced of turnover of a company owned by Jay Shah registering a 16,000 times increase in its turnover in a year.
Modi has started several schemes like Make in India, Startup India, Digital India but there is one more, "Beta Bachao", he said in a apparent dig at the government's "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" scheme.
But under "Beta Bachao", there is an instruction not to publish it or show it on television channels, Singh told reporters here.
He said Modi has been silent and other ministers were coming with statements defending Jay Shah.

"It would have been better if the Prime Minister had spoken on this."
The Congress has been continuously targeting Modi, Amit Shah and the Bharatiya Janata Party over the issue after an article on the issue appeared on an online news portal, saying Jay Shah's company's turnover surged after the BJP-led NDA government came to power in 2014.
The BJP has rubbished the allegations, saying Jay Shah's business was perfectly legitimate and legal, and has alleged that Congress was attempting to divert attention "from its own scams and misdeeds."
