Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru on his 125th birth anniversary.
"Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's life was spent struggling for India's freedom and leading the country as the prime minister. Tributes to him on his birth anniversary," Modi said in his tweet.
Jawaharlal Nehru was born in Allahabad on November 14, 1889 and died on May 27, 1964.
He became the first prime minister of India after the country's independence in 1947 and served till his death.
Nehru's birth anniversary is celebrated as Children's Day.
