Modi plants banyan sapling at Nepal resort

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a banyan sapling at the Dhulikhel resort, near here, where the Saarc leaders went for the retreat Thursday.

After Modi planted the sapling, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj watered the two-foot-tall plant with a green jerry can, as the prime minister looked on, pictures of the event posted by Syed Akbaruddin, external affairs ministry spokesperson, showed.

The leaders of the South Asian nations spent time at Dhulikhel in neighbouring Kavre district on the concluding day of the two-day 18th Summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation having talks in an informal setting.
