Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "visionary programmes" like 'Make in India' need support of the country's scientific community.

Inaugurating a Science and Technology and Industrial Expo here, the minister said "there was an imperative need to turn science into a people's movement to address problems and challenges of country".

"The prime minister's visionary programmes like 'Make in India', 'Digital India' and 'Smart Cities' need strong inputs from the country's scientific community and productive collaborations between academia and industry to transform them into huge success stories," he said.

The minister also interacted with exhibitors and children on the occasion.
