According to a release from the Prime Minister's Office, Modi hoped that the bilateral ties between India and Sri Lanka will get stronger under Wickremesinghe's leadership.

"Spoke to Ranil Wickremesinghe and congratulated him on his alliance's wonderful performance in the elections. I am confident that under Wickremesinghe's leadership, bilateral ties between India and Sri Lanka will get stronger," the prime minister said.
