City giants Mohammedan Sporting inaugurated their first grassroots football development programme at their club here on Sunday.
Toeing Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) line and in sync with the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) directive, the century old club has now shifted focus on boys and girls aged 6-12 years in a bid to nurture youth.
The programme was inaugurated by the president of the club Sultan Ahmed.
"We consider youth development as a very important element of our club. We have a set of highly knowledgeable coaches who are doing fine in shaping up the youth teams. Through this programme our aim is to create a new talent pool for future," Ahmed said.
