Veteran actress Hema Malini has extended her wishes to women who are observing the Karva Chauth fast on Friday, while filmmaker Aishwarya R. Dhanush hoped the moon doesn't play hide-and-seek at night.

On Karva Chauth, Hindu women mostly in north India, observe a day-long fast with no food or water, for their husband's long life. They eat only after praying to the moon.

Bollywood has always brought the revelry around the festival on the silver screen with much fanfare. Be it the famous fasting scene of "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" and the "Bole chudiyan" song sequence of "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..." or the song "Chand chupa badal mein" from "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam".

Here's what the stars tweeted on the occasion:

Hema Malini: Wish all of you fasting ladies a very happy Karva Chauth where all your prayers for your husbands come true.

Priyanka Chopra: To all celebrating...Karvachauth ki shubhkaamnaye

Kunal Kohli: In true #DDLJ style men should keep #karvachauth fast with their women, or a new fast be started that husbands keep for wives.

Vivek Agnihotri: My wife doesn't fast on Karva Chauth. Feeling extremely progressive like @BDUTT.

Esha Deol: Happy Karva Chauth

Soha Ali Khan: My first #karvachauth Happy #karvachauth to all the women (and men) fasting today - may your fast be short and your marriage long

Aishwaryaa.R.Dhanush: Lets hope the moon shows up really early this evening...Happy #karvachauth to all the beautiful ladies

Amitabh Bachchan: OK...off I go... need to rest...dancing and prancing tomorrow at AKRHZ and then there is 'Karva Chauth'.
