More than 20 percent of all the rural households in India own some form of motorised transportation machinery, government data showed on Friday.
According to the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) data released by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, out of 179,164,759 rural households, some 37,077,942 own motorised transportation including two, three, four wheelers or fishing boats.
Out of all the rural households, more than 17 percent or 31,230,695 own a two-wheeler. While, only 0.56 percent or 1,002,573 households have a three-wheeler.
The data revealed that four-wheeler ownership penetration stood at 2.46 percent or 4,415,308 households.
Whereas, motorboat ownership stood at 0.24 percent or 429,366 households.
