Ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, in a message Wednesday, called upon the people in his country to break what he called "a military coup".

"What happened was a military coup, a crime and treachery against the presidential oath," state-run Ahram website quoted Morsi's lawyer Mohamed al-Damaty.

The ousted president said he was abducted July 2 to the Republic Guards headquarters, according to the lawyer, Xinhua reported.

Morsi was toppled by the armed forces July 3 in response to massive protests June 30 against his maladministration in his one-year rule.
