Over one-third of British female university students have faced unwanted sexual advances on campus while studying, reveals a new poll.
Regardless of gender, around a quarter of students have been sexually harassed in some form, added the poll by the National Union of Students (NUS), a British concern.
"These findings show that harassment is rife on campus but we still keep hearing from universities that there is no fear, no intimidation, no problem," Toni Pearce, president of NUS, was quoted as saying in a Guardian report.'
"The NUS findings are an important call to action for all campus leaders worldwide not just in Britain," Pearce added.
According to the poll, over a third of respondents were aware of promotional material around their university that had explicit images of women.
Nearly 51 percent of women and 33 percent of men said such material in the vicinity of the campus made them uncomfortable.
