A West Bengal court Saturday remanded MPS Group chairman Pramatha Nath Manna and director Prabir Kumar Chanda, arrested for running unauthorised collective investment schemes, to three days police custody.

Arrested from Kolkata in pursuance of complaints filed by company agents before the Bankura police, the duo was presented before the district court which remanded them to police custody.

"Booked for cheating, forgery, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy, the duo were presented before the district court which remanded them to three days police custody," said an officer of the Bankura police station before which the complaints were filed.

Manna was taken into custody after he attended the hearing of the Commission of Inquiry, headed by Justice Shyamal Sen, which has been set up by the state government to probe the Saradha scam and similar other scandals involving ponzi firms.

Chanda was apprehended subsequently by the city police and the duo, earlier in the day, were handed over the Bankura police which presented them before the court.
