Egypt's Court of Cassation on Thursday began the final retrial of former President Hosni Mubarak on charges of killing protestors during the 2011 revolution that led to his ouster.

This is the second retrial, which cannot be appealed, after Mubarak was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2012 and then acquitted of the same charges two years later, Efe news reported.

The trial is being repeated based on a decision by the Court of Cassation itself for irregularities in the process.

The 88-year-old denied on Thursday all charges regarding his involvement in protestor deaths in 2011, according to state agency MENA. Mubarak is now under house arrest at a military hospital in Cairo.
