Delhi saw a humid Monday after a brief spell of heavy rain in the morning, which caused traffic jams in some parts of the capital. The Met Office has forecast light rain Tuesday.

The maximum temperature was recorded one notch below average at 32.7 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature settled at 26.7 degrees Celsius - average for this time of the season.

The humidity wavered between a high of 95 percent and a low of 75 percent. A total of 1.3 mm of rainfall was recorded between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.

"On Tuesday, the sky will be cloudy and light rains are expected in the capital," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

Tuesday's maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 33 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively, the forecast said.

The sudden heavy rain Monday morning caused pedestrians and two-wheeler drivers to scamper for shelter under flyovers and elevated Metro lines.

Motorists had a harrowing time in some places as vehicular movement came to a halt on account of dysfunctional traffic lights and waterlogged roads.
