The makers of forthcoming film "Kajarya" have bought the rights for "Mohabbat ki jhooti" song from the 1960 epic historical drama film "Mughal-e-Azam".

While the original track was sung by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, the new version will be sung by British-Indian singer Susheela Raman.

"I grew up watching 'Mughal-e-Azam'. It's an iconic film with a love story that is so poignant. Plus technically, it's a sterling film. But perhaps its most outstanding features are its music and Madhubala's beauty," the film's director Madhureeta Anand said in a statement.

"And to have a rendition of the most famous heartbreak song 'Mohabbat ki jhoothi', in 'Kajarya' is perfect because it fits the situation and has recall value. Plus Susheela Raman's singing gives it another meaning all together. She's fabulous," Anand added.

The film is based on the subject of prevailing women's issues in India with a powerful subject of saving the girl child. It has received accolades since its premiere at the Dubai International Film Festival.

"Kajarya", releasing on December 4, stars Meenu Hooda and Ridhima Sud in pivotal roles.
