President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday greeted the people of Cambodia on their Independence Day.
"On the occasion of the anniversary of the independence of the kingdom of Cambodia, it gives me great pleasure to convey the warm greetings and sincere good wishes of the government and people of India to your majesty and to the people of Cambodia," Mukherjee said in a message to Cambodian King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni.
India and the southeast Asian nation were linked by close ties of history and shared cultural heritage, he said, adding that Cambodia was an important partner in India's 'Act East Policy'.
"I am confident that our ongoing exchanges in various spheres will lead to an even closer partnership between our two countries and elevate our relationship to a higher level," Mukherjee said.
Cambodia got independence from France on November 9, 1953.
