President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate a new military station in west Bengal's Berhampore on Saturday, said a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement.

The foundation stone of the military station, situated 25 kms away from Berhampore town in Murshidabad district, was laid down in February 2014 by the President himself.

Spread across 252 acres of land, the new station is being developed as a model military station, with the state of the art training and administrative facilities integrated with the existing natural features. It is expected to play a significant role in the area's socio-economic growth.

Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Army's Eastern Command chief Lt. Gen. Praveen Bakshi and other military top brass and civil dignitaries are expected to be present on the occasion.

Mukherjee will be on a visit to his home state October 7 to 11.
