"Mutha Industries will set up a bamboo tiles manufacturing factory with expertise and machinery from China," Tripura Industrial Development Corporation chairman Pabitra Kar told reporters.

The unit will come up at the bamboo park in Bodhjunjnagar industrial growth centre, 15 km from here, at a cost of Rs.50 crore, he said.

"Bamboo flooring and partition tiles will be produced on a commercial basis there in two years' time. Over 600 people will get employment directly and indirectly because of the unit," Kar said.

The Tripura government began setting up the bamboo park at a cost of Rs.30 crore to help expand industries based on bamboo, also known as "green gold" in the region.

Being set up over an area of 70 acres, the bamboo park would be ready by March.

The park would produce hundreds of value-added items and facilitate export of bamboo products, said state's industries, commerce and forests minister Jitendra Chowdhury.
