Mumbai Tennis Masters eked out a 29-20 win against Punjab Marshalls in a round robin match of the Champions Tennis League (CTL) here Monday.
Mumbai and Punjab were already out of contention for a place in the final, to be played Nov 26 in New Delhi. With the inconsequential win, Mumbai finished second with two wins and two losses.
Delhi Dreams had qualified for the final beating Mumbai 27-21 Sunday.
Pranjala Yadlapalli put Mumbai 1-0 ahead beating Rishika Sunkara 6-5 (5-1). Pranjala then paired up with Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash to stretch Mumbai's lead to 2-0, outplaying Punjab's mixed doubles pair of Rishika and Vidit Vaghela 6-2.
Leander Paes won the legends match, downing Sergi Bruguera 6-5 to pull one back for Punjab.
In the mixed doubles match, Sriram Balaji and Tommy Robrado defeated Paes and Somdev Devvarman 6-3 before Devvarman went down to Robredo 4-6.
