A man arrested earlier this week for allegedly murdering a 69-year-old nun at a convent near here had a peculiar fetish for nuns, a senior police official said on Sunday.
"It was some sort of sadistic pleasure that he got while attacking elderly nuns and the motive of this crime was never for theft or previous enmity," Additional Director General of Police K. Padmakumar told reporters here.
Satish Babu, 38, was arrested in Haridwar in Uttarakhand on Thursday by the local police after the Kerala Police traced a phone call made by the accused to his brother in Kasargode town.
Padmakumar also revealed that the detailed questioning revealed that the accused had committed similar attacks on nuns in four convents on five earlier occasions.
Sister Amala was found lying in a pool of blood in her room at a convent in Pala near here on September 17.
Police formed eight teams to crack the case and they zeroed in on Babu, a history-sheeter.

A wooden club, with which the suspect reportedly hit the nun at the back of her head, was later found by the police.
On Saturday, a team of Kerala Police officials reached Haridwar and took him into custody from the Haridwar police.
He was flown to Kochi from Delhi on Sunday morning and after a preliminary medical examination he was brought to the district police headquarters here.
