London, Nov 3 (IANS/EFE) The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) has rejected an offer from the family of Margaret Thatcher to exhibit clothes and jewellery that belonged to the former British prime minister.

The family has decided to auction the objects at Christie's Auction House and the revenue from the collection will be distributed between the two children of the "Iron Lady", twins Mark and Carol, and her grandchildren.

A spokesman for the V&A told the Daily Telegraph newspaper that they did not accept the offer on the grounds that it is more appropriate for the objects to be displayed in another museum dedicated to "social historical value".

According to the Daily Telegraph, the value of the items is estimated at 500,000 pounds sterling ($769,470).
