Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said along with economic growth and development, the country will have to focus on protecting the environment.
While as a nation, "we have made progress in the sphere of economic growth and development, we will have to keep in sharp focus the protection of our environment", Khattar said while inaugurating a two-day international conference on Legal Dimensions of Environment.
"Should we neglect our environment future generations will have to pay the price.
"I appreciate the decision to hold such a conference as it is high time to address the emerging challenges in the field of environment to give impetus to the efforts being made to achieve sustainable development," he said at the event organised at the Amity Law School at its campus near Manesar here.
"Today, environment management and conservation of natural resources has become a global issue and it calls for collective efforts to address these challenges."

The Chief Minister said the state government is taking effective steps to make the people conscious of the need for the conservation of the environment and other natural resources.
The aim of the conference is to focus on understanding the legal dimensions in areas of environment with regard to natural resources and sustainable development and its applications in several areas of environmental jurisprudence.
Global researchers will deliver lectures and present innovative ideas and research outcomes during two days. It will also highlight the exciting innovations and applications in legal research.
