Madhya Pradesh Congress legislator Ram Nivas Rawat has written to the assembly secretariat, alleging his questions for the house relating to farmers' issues, their agitation and promises that the government made have been altered.

His questions, forwarded to the secretariat for the monsoon session of the state legislature, had been modified to hide the harsh realities and save the government, Rawat alleged.

Talking to the media in assembly premises, the Congress legislator said: "I had sought to know the details of farmers' agitation since June 1, including how many farmers had died in the firing incident, who had ordered the firing, and where the farmers arrested during the protests have been kept."

Rawat claimed that his questions had been merged with certain other queries relating to compensation to farmers. Objecting to the undue changes made, he had written to the assembly secretariat, he stated.

"This is a violation of my privileges as an MLA. I have requested to the Speaker to try and maintain the sanctity of the Constitution," the legislator said.
