Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said the central government gave no answer to questions he raised about the land ordinance on Monday.

"My speech was good but I got no response (from the government)," Gandhi told reporters as he exited parliament after speaking on the agrarian crisis that was pending from the first phase of the budget session.

Gandhi contended that the government was "incapable" of responding to issues raised in his speech because of the government's indifference to the plight of farmers and the labourers.

Earlier, speaking in the Lok Sabha that reconvened on Monday for the budget session after a month-long recess, he accused the BJP-led NDA government of being the "government of corporates" and the one that has completely "neglected farmers and labourers of the country".

Gandhi, who returned to politics after a 56-day leave of absence, was seen as leading the opposition against the controversial land acquisition ordinance bill that was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

The land acquisition ordinance was re-promulgated on April 3, a day before it was to lapse.
