Myanmar's national census, the first in three decades, started Sunday to collect data on population, economic and social facts. It was aimed at working out a development plan.
The 12-day National Population and Housing Census, which involves a staff of 120,000, is being conducted in accordance with international standard and with technical assistance from the UN Population Fund, reported Xinhua.
The expected cost is $58.5 million for the census taking process.
The rough report on results of the census will be released in early 2015.
The last two census were conducted in 1973 and 1983 which registered Myanmar's population as 28.92 million and over 35 million respectively.
