In January, NLD designated Suu Kyi as the sole spokesperson with regard to the party's policy.

Following the commencement of the first session of the new Union Parliament on February 8, a presidential election process is to start on Thursday to elect three vice presidents.

Among them, the one who wins the most number of votes will take the presidency while the remaining two shall be vice presidents.

The NLD won an absolute majority of parliamentary seats in the elections and will form a new government independently under the constitution.
