Myanmar will export about 100,000 tonnes of pulses to India annually and a Memorandum of Understanding is being established in this regard, the media reported on Tuesday.

India has proposed to increase its demand for Myanmar's mung beans and pigeon peas by 25,000 tonnes per year starting next year, Xinhua news agency reported.

However, the country's yield has declined since last year although the country produced over 600,000 tonnes of mung beans and over 200,000 tonnes of pigeon peas before.

The country exports on an average about 240,000 tonnes of various pulses per year.

Myanmar pulses are mainly exported to India, followed by China, Indonesia, the European Union and Japan, according to the Myanmar Pulses, Beans and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association.
