Myanmar is planning to open seven new border trade camps under the second short-term five-year National Comprehensive Development Plan which spans from 2016-2017 to 2020-2021.

The seven camps will be located in Maese, Htantalan, Paletwa, Mongla, Pansan (Wa), Ponpakyin (BP1) and Phayathonzu, Xinhua news agency reported.

At present, 16 border trade camps are operating, linking to China, Thailand, India and Bangladesh. China is the largest border trade partner of Myanmar, followed by Thailand.

The Kyainglat trade camp has been temporarily opened at the Myanmar-Laos border.

Myanmar authorities planned to continue to open new trade camps along the borders with China, Thailand and India to boost trading of industrial products, raw materials and agriculture products.

The country's border trade value reached $819 million from April 1 to May 27 this year.
