Designer Nachiket Barve, who has styled the likes of megastar Amitabh Bachchan and many more, is excited to launch his festive wear line at the Winter Festive edition of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) starting here from August 16.

"The idea of doing my first festive line really came from the constant demand from clients asking for me to do festive wear. The line really is an extension and diversification of my core aesthetic which is making clothes that have functionality, relevance, empathy for women and style that's timely and timeless," the designer told IANS.

Explaining more about his line, he says that he wanted to look at festive clothes that would have relevance and use beyond just one occasion.

"The collection is comprised of innovative separates that can be styled in different ways. Intricate traditional embellishment forms have been reinvented to make the clothes lightweight and easy to wear across festive occasions. Rich hues and gilded detailing in beadwork, embroidery, applique and cutwork can be seen in the line" says Nachiket Barve.

For his collection titled "THEIA" that is scheduled to take place on August 19, the designer has collaborated with backstage experts of Lakme Salon.

The show, that will be called "Show Stopping Bride", will celebrate the individuality of the modern Indian Bride, whose beauty is luminous and timeless.

Speaking about the inspiration behind THEIA, Barve said, "From music to poetry to the greatest works of art, the Goddesses of Greco-Roman mythology immortalise the diversity of femininity and beauty."

"Collaborating with Lakme Salon, the collection imbues the sensibilities of the modern Indian bride. From contemporary and feminine silhouettes, to delicate embroidery and metallic detailing, every piece of this collection celebrates the divine mix of bold and ethereal, that makes a goddess (and a bride) a force to be reckoned with."

Sushma Khan, National Creative Director - Makeup, Lakme Salon says that "At Lakme Salon, they believe that every bride is her own and worthy of adulation" and that will be reflected in the show.

"Our expertly crafted bridal makeup emulates her inner beauty with an other worldly and iridescent look. You can expect to see some prismatic hues with holographic makeup, interrupted liner, coloured graphic liners and more," she said.

Heena Dalvi, National Creative Director - Hair, Lakme Salon added, "We have sought inspiration from the intricate stitching and embroidery of the fabrics to curate hairstyles for this year's bridal looks collection. This season, the mane-trend will be techniques like Smocking, Conroe, French-Fish braids and Sculpting, integrated effortlessly into your bridal updos."

The five-day fashion extravaganza will take place at St Regis hotel here.
