Union Urban Development Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu will soon meet the three mayors of Delhi to discuss issues pertaining to sanitation and solid waste management in the national capital, an official release said on Wednesday.
Naidu decided to meet the mayors during the meeting with North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Preeti Aggarwal on Wednesday as she referred to financial and other constraints being faced by the civic body to address various problems and ensuring sanitation, the release said.
Stressing on the need for improving sanitation in the national capital, Naidu said he would like to have detailed discussions with the Mayors of all the three municipal corporations soon for evolving a road map for ensuring total sanitation in Delhi.
Aggarwal elaborated on the efforts initiated to improve the revenues of the civic body like development of municipal land and properties, ward level surveys of properties and issuing of unique ID numbers and cluster-wise advertisement policy, it said.
She referred to the problem of land availability for garbage disposal and said the Municipalities would like to focus on solid waste management and waste recycling to minimise the quantum of garbage disposal.
All the sanitary landfill sites in the city are already overburdened.

The erstwhile Delhi Municipal Corporation has been split into three bodies -- the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation - and hence has three mayors heading these corporations.
