Former law minister Narasingha Mishra was Wednesday unanimously elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party in the Odisha assembly, a senior party leader said here.
The newly-elected legislators of the party met here and unanimously elected Mishra, party observer for the state and former union minister Ajay Maken told reporters.
The 73-year-old Mishra, who won the 2014 assembly election from Bolangir constituency is known for his excellent debating skills.
The four-time legislator served as deputy leader of opposition in the assembly (2004-2009).
A former law minister of the state in the Biju Patnaik cabinet (1990-1995), Mishra is currently a part-time member of the Law Commission of India.
The Congress has 16 members in the newly constituted 147-seat assembly.
