Senior Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran on Friday asked SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellapally Natesan to resign from the post after he blessed his son Tushar Vellapally, the NDA candidate from the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat.
Tushar is the President of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena, the second biggest ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance in Kerala.
The BJP will contest on 14 seats, the BDJS on five and the Kerala Congress on one seat in the state.
Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam is represents the Hindu Ezhava community founded by social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.
"Natesan has to quit from the General Secretary's post as he is supporting the ideology of the Sangh Parivar by blessing his son who is a NDA candidate from Thrissur. Sangh's ideology is opposed to the ideology of Guru," said Sudheeran, a former state Congress President.
Sudheeran also flayed the stand taken by Natesan as in Alappuzha, his hometown, he was backing the CPI-M candidate.
